     Summer Schedule

Facilities available to Summer Institute participants include black and white, color, and special process darkrooms; group work spaces; Macintosh computer lab; Digital Video and New Media lab, Media Center with lecture/screening space, small format video and film equipment, post-production labs and computer imaging and computer audio systems; the VSW Research Center, with its extensive collections, library, and Independent Press Archive; VSW exhibition galleries and bookstore. Evening lectures by Summer Faculty are held each Wednesday in the Media Center at 7pm. Lectures are free and open to the public.

All classes meet from 9:30–5, Monday through Friday. Labs are open Monday through Thursday until 10:00PM

Enrollment in Workshops is limited to 8–14 students so early registration is encouraged. Individual registrations should be received no later than four weeks before the start of each workshop you plan to attend. Timely registration helps in two ways: to avoid possible class cancellations due to insufficient enrollment and to save your place in classes that fill up quickly.

Not for Credit Mail Registration The online registration form may be printed out and mailed in. Mail registration must include tuition and fees for each workshop and will be processed in order of receipt. Be sure to provide all information requestd on the registration form.

Phone Registration is taken only with a charge card payment (VISA or MasterCard). Phone registration hours are Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The phone number is (585) 442-8676 x112.

Fax Registration
may be made using the online registration form. Charge card payment must be included. The VSW fax number is (585) 442-1992.

Payment must be made in full when registering. Once registrations are received and processed by VSW, a confirmation letter telling you how to prepare for the first class meeting will be sent.

Tuition: Tuition is $400 per class (not-for credit) plus a $75 lab fee. Non-credit students must register directly through VSW. If you wish to receive college credit please call SUNY Brockport. Tuition for graduate level credit is $576 per class and you can register by calling 585-395-2900; undergraduate credit is $543 per class and you can register by calling 585-395-2900. If you are enrolling for college credit, SUNY Brockport requires an additional technology fee of $9.75 per credit hour and a $75 materials fee. All workshops are available for three undergraduate or two graduate credits. Any for credit registrations received at VSW will be returned.

Transcripts: If you register for college credit, transcripts are available after September 1 from SUNY Brockport by contacting the Office of Registration and Records at (585) 395-2531.

Education Program Policy: Students are responsible for their workshop choices. We recommend that you select your courses carefully. Workshop instructors or staff are available for advisement by email at workshops@vsw.org or by calling VSW at (585) 442-8676 x112.

Refund Policy: Refunds will be granted on the following basis: requests made up to two weeks prior to the first day of your workshop will receive a 100% refund less a $50 withdrawal fee; requests made up to five business days prior to the start of your workshop will receive a 50% refund less a $50 withdrawal fee. No refunds/credits are offered after that time. If you have registered for credit, consult www.brockport.edu for refund information and schedules.

Cancellations: Workshops are subject to cancellation due to under-enrollment. A full credit or refund will be issued to students registered for canceled workshops.

Check Re-deposit Fee: If a student’s check or charge does not clear for payment, an additional fee of $25 will be charged. VSW does not guarantee placement until payment is resubmitted.

Class Absences: Because of the intensive nature of the workshops it is not possible for participants to make up missed days by attending on another day. There are no refunds for missed classes.

Preparation for Workshops: If an instructor indicates supplies or suggested readings, this information will be sent to you along with your registration receipt. In general, instructors suggest that the participants bring samples of past work.

Hours: On the first day of your workshop, please arrive at 9:00 AM to complete registration. Workshops will start at 9:30 a.m. Hours for class meetings, studio time and critiques vary according to the type of class. Evening hours may be used for critiques extra studio time. All workshops end at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
