Mauro Altamura received a BA in Fine Arts in 1976 from Ramapo College of New Jersey and an MFA in Visual Arts from the Visual Studies Workshop through SUNY Buffalo in 1981. For the past thirty years he has worked in the visual arts, using photography and video as his medium. Mauro has exhibited his work extensively, both nationally and internationally, from 1979 to the present. He received grants and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts and the New Jersey Council for the Arts among others. Mauro's work has been collected by a number of museums and is in many private collections. He is currently an Associate Professor of Art at New Jersey City University in Jersey City, New Jersey. He's recently begun teaching introductory creative writing courses along with courses in visual art.
