Sonia Landy Sheridan, visual artist and Professor Emerita of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago founded Generative Systems in 1970. The major collections of Sheridan’s work are at the Hood Museum of Art Dartmouth that has accessioned over 630 of her art works. See: http://hoodmuseum.dartmouth.edu/exhibitions/2009soniasheridan/ The Daniel Langlois Foundation of Montreal, Canada has archived her media work, correspondence, videos, history of Generative Systems, data and records from the 1940’s through 2000 as well as hundreds of original images. http://www.fondation-langlois.org/html/e/page.php?NumPage=2026 Sheridan’s’ work is also in major museums on three continents. She is a Guggenheim fellow and three times National Endowment for the Arts grantee. In 2002 she was cited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design for her contribution to the arts. Sheridan is honorary editor of Leonardo: International Journal of Art, Science & Technology. Sonia Sheridan is very grateful for the Visual Studies Workshop important early 1970s support through published articles in Afterimage and through workshops.
