Douglas Holleley was born in Sydney, Australia and studied photography at the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, New York, where he graduated with a Master of Fine Arts. His artist’s books and photographs are represented in many collections including, the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., The McGill University Library (Rare Books Division) Montreal, Canada, the International Museum of Photography at the George Eastman House, Rochester, N Y, the Centre for Creative Photography in Tucson, Arizona, the Cary Graphic Arts Collection, Rochester Institute of Technology, the Johnson Museum of Art, Cornell University, and the National Gallery of Australia. In 1997 he was awarded a Ph.D at the University of Sydney. The title of his thesis is Luna Park, the Image of a Funfair. This thesis examines a major amusement park in Sydney Australia through the medium of photography. He became a permanent resident of the USA in 1997 and lives and works in upstate New York. www.clarellen.com
