You Are Never Alone gives a physical location to a collection of seemingly mundane bits of communication. Part performance, part road-trip escape, and part landscape photography, this series draws from a drive across the U.S. planting signs with phrases from text messages, emails, and conversations had while traveling. Because we are never truly able to escape oneself and one’s daily life now that we are always connected by technology, the idea of the road trip/escape into nature has changed. The mundane communications with friends and lovers become a part of the landscape in which we seek escape. To capture each of these moments en route, I would plant a sign, photograph it, leave it, and move on.
